Just thinking... who precisely has come up with the idea the Afghan administration and the Allied Powers in Afghanistan should start to talk with the 'moderate' Taleban? Why, of course the Afghan Administration and the Allied Powers - and who are the principal figures, why 100% men. It's the sort of incomprehensible selling-down-the-river of women which happens everywhere in the world where we men rule the roost. Does anyone in their right mind believe the Taleban, however 'moderate', will encourage girls to get an education, women to walk free in the open air without a male at their side, or without oppressively heavy outer-wear in the heavy heat of a South Asia summer? Will women be able to seek election without harrassment? Will they be allowed to make the sort of decisions for themselves women in the West take for granted?
When Afghanistan was invaded by the Allied Powers, much was made by Bush and Blair that this was in significant part to liberate Afghani women from the cruelties of the Taleban. Now, just as a way to get out without admitting failure, the Afghan women are being sold down the Kabul River.
